The bridal bouquet: where a personal choice begins
19 October 2026 · 2 min read
The bridal bouquet appears in many photos, but it is also something you hold in your hand. You carry it, set it down for a few moments and pick it up again. That's why choosing it should take into account both the look and comfort.
A good direction doesn't have to be complicated. A few clear reference points help more than dozens of very different photos.
Start with the dress and your own style
A photo of the dress or a few details about its cut give the florist useful context. Say what you'd like to stand out: the simplicity of the silhouette, the texture of the fabric or a detail of colour.
There's no single correct bouquet shape for a particular dress. What matters is that the proportions and lines create an image in which you recognise yourself.
Pick out what you like in your saved images
For each inspiration photo, note one specific thing: the palette, the shape, the way the stems show or a particular type of flower.
If you like an image for its colours, there's no need to reproduce every species in it. This distinction lets the florist suggest alternatives that suit the date of your event.
Talk about comfort
Ask about size, weight and how the bouquet is held. Mention whether you'd like to hold it in one hand or have any preferences about scent.
Think about the day's schedule too: travel, ceremony, photos and the party. Decide how the bouquet will be kept between moments and who will look after it.
Discuss budget and availability in the same conversation
Share the date, the town and the budget from the start. Mention separately if you need floral accessories, bouquets for other people or decorations.
Available flowers can vary. Agree on which elements are essential and which substitutions are acceptable, so the visual direction stays consistent.
What to prepare for the first conversation
A few relevant images, details about the dress, the event's palette and a short list of preferences are enough. Add the things you don't want, too.
